Really love a professor? Say it with a trading card!
That’s right. Penn State University is printing academic trading cards. Paid for by the alumni association, these glossy cards are distributed at tailgating parties for home games. They did a test run last year and have now printed their second batch. The school president Graham Spanier came up with the idea, saying, “We have many great faculty, and they are surely worthy of the accolades our society often lavishes on athletes, coaches, and celebrities in the entertainment world….We hope the cards will remind people of the important work being done by our leading scholars.”
Which begs the obvious question:
Who’s card would you be trading for?
(I don’t know all of the professors, and I certainly couldn’t make a poll with all of their names. I’m sure I left someone off that at least one of you thinks is amazing. If there’s someone you’d like to mention, there’s a spot for you to add your own. And feel free to share your reasons in the comments!)
Edit: If you pick “other” and put in the name of a professor, it won’t show up, so put it into the comments – thanks!
How is there no Swaine?
i want to have larry cunningham’s babies.
Steve, I don’t know Professor Swaine. Is he great?
I, for one, am sad that Professor Butler hasn’t gotten more votes. Aren’t there some more hardcore Butler fans out there??
Professor Swaine is indeed great, although as a 1L i have very little to compare him too.
Gotta have my boy Selmi – best professor at GW
Swaine is very good. And he’s funny. Is he still talking about Pirates, ninjas and fainting goats? I’d vote for him or Prof. Dienes…I really like his Con Law II lectures.
He mostly talks about his beloved pet bear. Which he must have got some time over the summer.
Oh god, I hope his pet bear didn’t eat Thor, his pet fainting goat.
pet bears FTW
